How to read a meta combo

A Beyblade X combo consists of three pieces: Blade + Ratchet + Bit. The Blade gives the top its character (attack, stamina, defense, balance). The Ratchet (number of prongs ยท height in mm) controls the centre of gravity and stability. The Bit is the tip that contacts the stadium and determines movement.

Top meta combos satisfy at least two of these three criteria:

The data in this guide comes from the WBO cumulative ranking on BeyX Hub (official WorldBeyBlade.org tournament results) and from analysis of international champions on the 2025โ€“2026 circuit. For individual blade stats you can consult our full parts database.

The 5 best Beyblade X combos of 2026

1. Shark Scale ยท 1-70 (or 3-60) ยท Low Rush โ€” S+ tier

The combo that rewrote the 2026 meta. Shark Scale has an asymmetric elongated shape that generates an aggressive trajectory with a unique reversal potential: the top exits the Over or Xtreme zone and automatically re-enters attack, making it almost impossible to predict where it will strike next. With 12 WBO victories and 8,704 cumulative points it is the second most winning combo of the season โ€” and according to spring 2026 data, it has now surpassed Wizard Rod for first place in international tournaments.

Ratchet: 1-70 for greater height and direct impact; 3-60 for more stability and consistency; 1-60 for maximum speed.
Bit: Low Rush is the meta standard. Rush works as a more aggressive alternative.
Pros: Reliable Over Finish, unpredictable reversal, versatile against stamina and defense.
Cons: Requires precise launch technique. Struggles against Cobalt Dragoon due to spin equalization.

2. Wizard Rod ยท 1-60 ยท Hexa โ€” S+ tier

Wizard Rod 1-60 Hexa is the most decorated combo of recent history: 28 WBO victories, 18,410 cumulative points โ€” more than double the second placed combo. It generates a stable orbit almost impossible to disrupt, thanks to the Hexa bit's exceptional burst resistance. The recent meta has scaled it back but not eliminated it: it doesn't always win head-to-head against Shark Scale, but it rarely loses against anything else.

Defensive variant: 9-60 Ball or 1-60 Ball โ€” zero wins but 11 second/third place finishes, ideal for round robins.
Orbit variant: 1-60 Free Ball โ€” higher skill ceiling, resilient against Xtreme Line combos.
Pros: Most tested, most reliable, excellent matchup coverage.
Cons: Shark Scale with aggressive setup puts it under pressure. Doesn't Over Finish easily.

3. Silver Wolf ยท 9-60 ยท Free Ball (or Under Needle) โ€” S tier

The meta surprise. Silver Wolf generates an unpredictable orbit trajectory that troubles both attack types (which can't land clean hits) and stamina types (which can't outlast it). With Free Ball it is the #3 WBO combo: 10 victories, 5,849 points, 72% win rate. With Under Needle โ€” an alternative setup reported by champions from Singapore, USA and Australia โ€” it assumes an even more defensive profile with a high skill ceiling.

Pros: Unpredictable, excellent matchup coverage, hard to counter if you don't know it well.
Cons: Requires experience to exploit the orbit. Fewer total data points than WR and SS.

4. Cobalt Dragoon ยท 5-60 (or 7-60) ยท Elevate โ€” A+ tier

The "kryptonite" of Wizard Rod. Cobalt Dragoon is the only left-spin blade in the competitive meta: hits against right-spinning blades transfer spin instead of subtracting it, making it almost impossible to beat through direct attacks. Result: it can win by Spin Finish against stamina combos that seemed unstoppable. With 7 WBO second-place finishes it is the combo that accumulates the most podium placements overall โ€” a valuable asset in round robin tournaments.

Ratchet: 5-60 classic tournament setup; 7-60 variant reported in spring 2026 tournaments.
Pros: Natural counter to stamina types, unpredictable, 7 WBO second places.
Cons: Not substitutable with other blades โ€” you need Cobalt Dragoon specifically.

5. Hover Wyvern ยท 1-60 (or 9-60) ยท Rush / Kick โ€” A+ tier

The most explosive attack blade in the meta. Hover Wyvern produces a devastating Sliding Contact Attack: instead of bouncing off the opponent, it slides along the rim transferring all rotational force into a single impact. With Rush or Low Rush on a low ratchet (1-60, 1-70) it delivers a Spin Finish frequency superior to other attack types โ€” more consistent against defensive setups. With a 77% WBO win rate across 12 appearances it is already the combo with the highest win rate in the entire database.

Note: The historical WBO dataset shows 9-60 Kick, but international sources from spring 2026 point to 1-60/1-70 Rush as more effective โ€” reflecting evolving understanding of the blade.
Pros: Very high win rate (77%), unpredictable, excellent against stamina types.
Cons: High skill ceiling, requires very precise launch.

Which combo to choose based on your play style

There is no single "best combo" โ€” it depends on how you want to play and who you're up against. Here's the quick guide:

ATK You want to play aggressively

Shark Scale 1-70 Low Rush โ€” the flagship meta pick of 2026. High skill ceiling but devastating.
Budget: Aero Pegasus 1-60 Rush โ€” accessible in starter sets, WBO rank #20.

STA You want to play stamina and defence

Wizard Rod 1-60 Hexa โ€” the most reliable, 28 victories, perfect for starting to compete.
Budget: Phoenix Wing 3-60 Rush โ€” WBO rank #8, accessible and solid.

BAL You want to be unpredictable

Silver Wolf 9-60 Free Ball โ€” unpredictable orbit, excellent matchup coverage, hard to counter.

DEF You want specific counters

Cobalt Dragoon 5-60 Elevate โ€” the only left-spinner in the meta, natural counter to Wizard Rod and stamina types.

Meta 2026: what's changing

The most significant data point of 2026 is the return of attack type to the top spot. For over a year the meta was dominated by stamina and defense โ€” anyone wanting to compete had to play Wizard Rod. With the rise of Shark Scale and Hover Wyvern, the game has opened up: bringing only a stamina combo to a tournament today is risky, because there's enough powerful attack to beat it.

The community's response? Bringing two combos to tournaments (where the format allows): one stamina like Wizard Rod for defensive matchups, and one attack like Shark Scale for offensive matchups. The metagame has become more tactical than it has ever been in Beyblade X.

One to watch: in spring 2026 tournaments Blast appeared, a Custom Line blade with an interchangeable Assist Blade. We don't yet have enough WBO data for a full analysis โ€” but it could be the next to climb the rankings. We'll keep it updated in our WBO ranking.

How to build your first competitive combo

If you want to start competing without spending on every top blade, here's the recommended path:

  1. Start with an accessible starter โ€” Aero Pegasus or Phoenix Wing are S/A tier blades available in starter sets.
  2. Add Wizard Rod โ€” It's the safest combo you can have. With the 1-60 ratchet from your starter and the Hexa bit you already have a top tier combo.
  3. Then Shark Scale โ€” To have a real offensive option to rotate with in tournaments.

Before buying, try the combinations in our Combo Builder โ€” you can simulate any setup with real WBO data and compare tiers before spending.
